  • Kumar Sangakkara become the first batsman to score four successive centuries in ODIs. 
    • The veteran Sri Lankan batsman also become the first wicket-keeper to register over 500 dismissals behind the wicket.
    • He scripted his name in the record books in the match against Scotland where he scored 124 runs.
    • Prior to this, he had scored a hat-trick of centuries (chronological order) against Bangladesh (105), England (117) and Australia (104).
    • He, with 14,189 ODI runs, is only behind Tendulkar (18,426).
  • Subsidy on petroleum products in 2014-15 is almost half of what was incurred in the previous year (2013-14). 
    • The data (estimated only upto October 2014) shows the burden to be just Rs. 72,415 crore (as against 1,46,339 crore previous year) on regulated petroleum products like Diesel, PDS Kerosene and Subsidized Domestic LPG.
    • The saving is result of the falling prices of crude oil in world market.

    • We are 3rd in number of reactors under construction and sixth in terms of net capacity under construction.
  • Centre is going to set up 50 Centres of Excellence for Curriculum and Pedagogy with necessary emphasis on Maths and Science; under the newly launched scheme Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).
  • Shillong is hosting the 'Indian Panorama Film Festival 2015' for the 3rd year in a row. 
    • The festival showcase best of contemporary Indian Cinema produced in different languages with a view to promoting quality cinema from different parts of the country.
    • Eight feature films and three non-feature films will be screened over three days.
