  • Lalu Yadav and JD(U) MP Jagdish Sharma, both convicted in the fodder scam, formally disqualified from the Lok Sabha. Earlier Congress leader Rashid Masood had become the first MP (Rajya Sabha) to formally lose his Parliament seat following Supreme Court verdict on convicted lawmakers.      
    • Rashid Masood during his stint as the health minister in the VP Singh government (1990-91) had alloted MBBS seats meant for students from Tripura to undeserving candidates.

  • Tata's joint aviation venture with Singapore Airlines gets government approval to use the name 'Tata SIA Airlines Limited'. The Airlines, registered from Delhi, plans to offer full-service passenger services on domestic and international routes.
