UPSC Civil Services Exam 2014 Results Declared ; women bag top four positions

Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) 2014 result has been declared .Women have  outshone men as four of the five top candidates are women.
The fifth rank has been claimed by a male candidate, Suharsha Bhagat. The top five rankers are:-

5. Suharsha Bhagat   Selected for Indian Audit and Accounts Service in 2011, Indian Information Service in 2012, Indian Revenue Service 2014 and finally Indian Administrative Service in 2014 he is an IIT-Bombay passout and hails from Bihar
  • A total number of 1,236 candidates, including 590 in General category, 354 belonging to Other Backward Class, 194 from Scheduled Caste and 98 from Scheduled Tribe, have been recommended for appointment to various central government services as per UPSC criteria
  • It is the first time that UPSC has declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination within four days of the closing date for the personality tests or interviews.
  • About 9.45 lakh candidates had applied for it but approximately 4.51 lakh appeared for the examination of these, 16,933 were declared qualified for the main examination
  • Out of the 16,933 candidates, 16,286 appeared for the main examination that was held in December last year 
  • Out of 16,286 candidates only 3,308 candidates were declared qualified for the personality test out of  which UPSC has recommended a total number of 1,236 candidates.
